A garden wellness space is less about equipment and more about how it makes you feel: a place to slow down, warm up, cool off and breathe. Here's how we approach the design.

Decide on the rituals

Do you picture a sauna followed by an outdoor shower? Morning yoga? A quiet room for reading or treatments? Each ritual has its own space and services, so start there.

Sauna rooms

A sauna needs the right heater, ventilation, moisture-tolerant linings and, often, a dedicated electrical supply. Specialist elements are specified individually and depend on your site.

Cooling off

An outdoor shower or a cold-plunge zone completes the circuit. These need water supply, drainage and a safe, slip-resistant surface, all planned at survey stage.

The quiet room

Soft, warm lighting, natural timber, good acoustic separation and a view of planting make a relaxation room feel calm. Keep technology to a minimum.

The garden around it

Low lighting along paths, screened views and planting that softens the building edges turn a studio into a retreat, day and evening.

Anyone with a health condition should check with their GP before using a sauna or cold plunge. See our Wellness & Saunas page for ideas.
